Spatially Enabled with PostGIS

PostGIS spatially enables geographic objects in the PostgreSQL object relational database. It adds support for geographic objects allowing location queries to be run in SQL.

PostGIS provides the following benefits:

  • Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) standards compliance
  • Feature rich spatial implementation
  • Industry leading query performance
  • Efficient and high performance data storage
  • Support for major spatial vendors including ESRI, Mapinfo, Autodesk, FME – as well as being the core spatial database format used by the Geospatial Open Source stack of software

Delegates Learn: The Spatially Enabled with PostGIS course covers the breadth of the PostGIS API, including modelling the physical world as geographic objects, importing, creation and manipulation of these objects, and complex analysis and generation of derived data sets.

Target Audience: Database Scientists, Geoscientists, Spatial Data Coordinators, Spatial Operations Managers, Metadata Managers, Enterprise Architects.

Prerequisites: Familiarity with SQL SELECT statements, knowledge of relational database models and structures, familiarity with spatial data and concepts.

Professional GeoServer

GeoServer is web server that allows you to serve maps and data from a variety of formats to standard clients such as web browsers and desktop GIS programs. Data is published via standards based interfaces, such as WMS, WFS, WCS, WPS, Tile Caching and more. GeoServer comes with a browser-based management interface and connects to multiple data sources at the back end.

Jirotech’s Professional Geoserver training provides an in-depth look at GeoServer. The courses focus on the role of GeoServer in a stack of spatial software, the publishing of spatial data and use of GeoServer by various clients.
